New Magellan GPS Device
Magellan has unveiled a new outdoor GPS device, eXplorist GC which is a rugged (IPX 7 grade), 2.2-inch color screen handheld GPS that embeds 10,000 geocaches and all the software needed for paperless geocaching adventures. It weight 147 grams and is powered by two AA batteries (up to 18 hours life) and a SiRF StarIII GPS chipset. The Magellan eXplorist GC will retail for $199.99 and will be available in April 2010.
The growth of geocaching – with over three million users worldwide – is generating a lot of interest from GPS outdoor manufacturers. for example, last year Apisphere launched the Geomate Jr that was targeted at kids with a $69.99 price point – with a small black and white display.
